SETTING A NEW STANDARD IN COMMUNITY CLUBHOUSE DESIGN

Sometimes the most exciting transformations actually start with a blank canvas and inspiration. This was certainly the case with our latest project for longtime client Robson Resort Communities.

The Saddlebrooke Ranch community located north of Tucson is an active community for retired adults with luxury amenities.  Amenities like a 24 court Pickleball Complex with 12-lighted courts, dog park, and pro shop featuring a putting green, driving range, and practice bunker set the property apart from the run-of-the-mill community. The community also features the LaHacienda clubhouse complete with fitness center, bistro, indoor and outdoor pools, and a hair salon.

But the true centerpiece to any community is a gathering place. A space to to meet new neighbors or connect with long-time friends. A place to grab a bite to eat, or a place just to hang out. At Saddlebrooke Ranch, that place is the Ranch House.

The Ranch House is a stunning 39,000 SF facility that boasts a full-service grill & bar, private dining room, banquet room with stage, lounge, conference room and several outdoor patios. With the challenge of designing for Active Adult residents, this Clubhouse is placed centrally among the community’s existing amenity assets.

The interior is a rustic-meets-modern space that exudes a sophisticated, yet casual style. Exposed wood beams, wooden accented walls, and open spaces reference the breathtaking mountain views and high Sonoran desert terrain surrounding the community. A mixture of modern accents and hints to the local southwestern influence is present throughout. Flooring patterns, artwork and accessories add up to a chic sophisticated contrast of layers and textures. A juxtaposition of warm-woods, grey toned stones, softened by alabaster and steel lighting creates a glowing, opulent ambiance. Key walls throughout display commissioned colorful artwork, sculptures and carefully selected accessories. This project signifies evolution in clubhouse design. Resort-quality lifestyle amenities evoke destination living while the modern freshness of the interiors imbues a forever young quality and “homey” feel.

Plush indoor and outdoor seating options create magnetic nooks designed to inspire conversation.

Bold patterns with hints toward a modern southwestern style span from the flooring selections to the patterns on the bar stools and the custom carpet designs.

An internally lit entry wall feature created with wood planks, stone slabs and hand painted limestone mosaics presents the juxtaposition between materials carried through the building. This “memory point”, the focal point of a space that you’ll reference long after visiting, is both a place to enjoy a piece of art and mingle in the intimate seating area.

We were thrilled to be involved in creating such an integral (and we hope loved) space for the community members. This was a fun, collaborative effort by KTI, SHJ Studios, Creative Designs in Lighting, Robson Construction and Western Millwork. We’d also like to give special thanks to Karri Kelly of Robson Design Group for her involvement and collaboration through the entire process.
