1. How did you know you wanted to be an interior designer?

My favorite childhood hobby (according to my parents) was digging through our trash bin to find the perfect components for my makeshift buildings. I grew up being told that I would be an architect, but I was always drawn to the arts in general. It wasn’t until much later when I was getting my bachelor’s in art at DU that I started to notice a common theme in almost of my work: they all had furniture in them. I took my first design internship shortly after that, and the rest is history.

2. WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT DESIGNING luxury HOMES?

Getting to think creatively. Balancing functionality needs with the design aesthetic allows us to come up with creative solutions we wouldn’t have originally thought of. Also, seeing a long project (many of our jobs go on for 3-5 years) finally come together as we’d envisioned is the best part of the job!

3. What’s your favorite KTI RESIDENTIAL project and why?

Funk it Up is one of our most fun projects to date! The clients really encouraged us to be creative and have fun with color and texture, and we had a great team and partner in our GC on this job (Gruber Construction.) We’re currently working on this client’s mountain home in Grand Lake — so stay tuned! I’m also really excited about a Telluride project that’s in the conceptual stage right now. I’ll take any excuse for a mountain site visit!

4. What’s your favorite KTI project outside of residential and why?

The hospitality team’s Hotel Indigo!

5. What’s a trend you’re loving right now?

I have a few favorites: Color drenching and the reemergence of bold color and pattern in general, bold natural stones coming back into the forefront, and I love that lacquer is coming back!

6. What’s a design trend you hope never comes back?

Farmhouse. Sorry, it’s just time!

7. Where do you look for and find inspiration in the world?

Nature and art are the two big ones for me.

8. How has your role at KTI changed?

I started as an intern at KTI seven years ago, became a full-time designer, and have worked my way up the ladder to senior designer. It’s been a wonderful place to learn!

9. What’s your favorite ROOM to design?

Any cozy corner with a built-in and spot to read. I love any efficient and unexpected use of space.

10. What’s the best part about finishing a project?

Getting to see a happy client move in and get to really use every inch of the design. It’s exciting to see them interacting with the space we crafted.

11. how would you describe your personal design style?

Colorful and eclectic. I love blending unexpected materials, art, and furniture to create a curated and cohesive design.

12. Where can we find you on a Saturday?

In the mountains, at a fun restaurant with friends, or reading at home with my little sheltie, Campbell.

13. What are you watching right now?

Severence — it’s too good!

14. what’s one food you couldn’t live without?

Pasta of any kind. My team knows my eating habits to a tee, and I think they’d agree.

15. Take us through your 5 to 9 after your 9 to 5.

Start at the gym (on a good day), a quick visit to the grocery store, dinner with my husband, and then time for a movie or show.

16. What’s your hidden talent or party trick?

The worm (though this hasn’t been tested in a few years.)

17. Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Telluride, Colorado hands down.

18. Neutral tones or bold color?

Bold color!

19. What’s a hobby you hope to pick up one day?

I’d like to get a small printing press for my basement. I haven’t done any printmaking since college, and it was once one of my favorite forms of therapy.

20. If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would you live?

If it wasn’t already clear… Telluride!
