15 QUESTIONS WITH KELSIe
With seven years of experience in the interior design industry, Kelsie brings a fresh, creative perspective to every project she touches. She began her career as a cabinet designer and steadily expanded her expertise, eventually finding her stride in model home design. For the past three years, she’s developed a true passion for creating model homes that feel unique, thoughtful, and beautifully tailored.
Get to know Kelsi through 15 questions that highlight the designer behind the work.
1. Where are you from?
Herndon, Virginia (right outside of DC).
2. What drew you to Interior Merchandising design over something else?
Interior merchandising (model home design) has really clicked with me more than any other type of design I’ve done. I love that it’s fast-paced, always changing, and there’s less client pressure. Plus, it’s fun to be able to try something new with almost every project.
3. What’s one design trend you’re loving right now?
I like that I’m seeing more boldness across the board. I love the darker, earthier tones and seeing more personality in spaces with art and accessories.
4. What’s a design trend you hope never comes back?
Art with cheesy quotes, whitewashed furniture, all-matching bedroom sets, wall-to-wall carpet, and gold ornate frames on art.
5. Where do you look for and find inspiration in the world?
Pretty much everywhere! Whenever I travel inside or out of the country, or any time I’m in a new place, whether it be a restaurant, hotel, museum, etc.
6. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Moving out to Colorado 10 years ago by myself to start over and really start my design career was a defining moment. It took a lot of hard work and some really tough jobs to get to where I am now at KTI.
7. What’s your favorite kind of space to design?
I really love the main living area or a funky/fun kids room!
8. What’s the best part about finishing a project?
Seeing a lot of hard work pay off and seeing everything in person come together how you imagined it from a concept.
9. What’s your favorite KTI Interior merchandising project?
Most recently, I loved working on the Cornerstone Model at Flying Horse North with Classic Homes. Previously, KB Home project Turnberry was a favorite of mine!
10. What’s your favorite KTI Cares Initiative?
Currently, I am working on a project with Volunteers of America Colorado, HomeAid Colorado, in partnership with Home Depot and the Daniels Fund called Clermont Commons. We are refreshing three 6 bedroom homes that serve as transitional spaces for veteran women and their families, which is a great cause to be a part of.

11. What’s one food you couldn’t live without?
Pasta!
12. Take us through your 5 to 9 PM After your 9 to 5.
My husband and I just like to take the time after work to walk the dogs, make dinner, relax and watch our TV shows together
13. Where can we find you on a Saturday?
Currently, I’m either hiding inside on my sofa with a glass of wine watching terrible reality shows, or trying not to break a leg snowboarding.
14. Where is the best place you’ve traveled?
So far, Italy.
15. How would you describe your personal design style?
I lean towards dark and moody but cozy. Earth tones, walnut woods, brass and black metals, layered textiles.
