TOP TRENDS FROM THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL BUILDERS SHOW

Every year, members of the KTI team travel to attend the for the NAHB International Builders’ Show.  The show is an annual gathering attended by building industry professionals from across the globe. Awards ceremonies, educational clinics, and mixers highlight the week, but perhaps our favorite aspect of the show is the exhibits. Vendors from across the globe put their products on display, and  we love exploring the latest and greatest in search of items to make our designs stand out.

Below we share some of our favorites as well as our take on the latest trends from the IBS and KBIS exhibits:

Works of art from unexpected places:

Who says plumbing has to be boring? Some of the new fixtures and plumbing being introduced is super sexy and adds a statement to any space like beautiful sculptural art pieces.

The Return of Deco:

Out Deco was another great find.  They fabricate modular decorative screen panels that can be used for screens, patios, gates, facades, feature walls and fences.  They are constructed of sustainable Australian Hardwood and can hold up to Colorado’s weather. They come in several patterns and sizes.

The future is now!

The latest technology being used on toilets is over the top!  If you have watched the movie “Why Him?”, you’ll get a kick out of this.  This goes way beyond a heated seat, they do just about everything.

The smart features you didn’t know you needed:

Smart features designed to make the way we use everyday products easier where a huge trend. For instance, Kohler introduced a beautiful vanity with glass doors on the front, and with a swipe of your foot beneath the vanity the glass turns from translucent to frosted. See what’s behind the doors without needing to open them.

Rethinking wall coverings:

Stikwood creates eco-friendly peel and stick wood wall coverings, and had some great new products on display.  We’ve used their product on Hospitality projects in the past and love how it turned out.

Metal!

No, not the loud, fast, crazy music. Metal in all shapes and forms is a great element to many designs. Stollindustries was an exciting find for us, so much of what we do in designing our projects is custom and trying to find someone that can turn our visions into reality is hard.  Stollindustries can do anything out of metal that we can dream up. Doors, drawers, hoods, backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, walls, shelving, etc.
