Funk It Up
This whole-home renovation took a dated 1970’s house to funkytown. The homeowners wanted a fully open concept, colorful, and inviting space that had moments of mid-century funk. We began by taking down walls to create an open floor plan, and enhanced the vaulted ceilings with wood planking for an epic kitchen, great room and dining room. A high-contrast, bold and bright color palette flows throughout the home with warm woods, moody black, and pops of burnt orange and cool blue, all tied together with gold accents. A mix of curved and clean-lined furniture plays into the home’s 70’s flare. The master suite has the wow-factor with textured black wallcovering, statement pendants above the nightstands, and floor-to-ceiling dramatic marble tile in the bath. Upstairs, you’ll find the ultimate rec room complete with an art-deco inspired bar, comfortably chic seating, custom tiled fireplace, and home office. To make this home not only beautiful but also kid-friendly, we rerouted the staircase and included a multifunctional built-in space for work and play with storage. This home is truly a work of art!
